About Us

I'm a Starbucks addict. Seriously, give me an iced Marble Mocha Macchiato (it even says "MMM" in its name), and I'll have an instantly brighter day!

What does that have to do with anything?

It's the reason that Perfectly Distressed exists.

Crazy, right?

This all happened in 2009.  We had just completed a PCS move (my husband was active duty Navy) and I had recently given birth to our second child, so I made the decision to not go back to work.  That left me with some spare time, and the coffee thing, well that left me with a need to supplement our income. So after a few shopping trips through the beautiful primitive shops in Maine, two of my best girl friends and I started making our own little projects and the signs just sort of stuck with me.  It took me a few months and a custom request to get to the Duty station signs, that now dominate my sales reports, but I am so glad I stuck with it!  And while I used to go for coffee after each sold sign, I now get to go every day with the guilt residing on the scale, not in my bank account!

Some big things have happened since I first started, I've grown from just using an Etsy shop, to having this lovely website that you are currently visiting.  I went from garage to basement then I graduated from working on the side of the house to this beautiful little shed! Now I'm back in the garage, but in Texas where the cold isn't so much of a problem.

That's the fun background of how I got here.  Now that I'm here I look at the pictures that customers have sent me, and I hear the stories of how they received their signs or have given them to their spouses, as a celebration of their military careers, and I can feel nothing but honored to have been a part of putting those legends in writing.  I hope that as you look at your sign, you have nothing but the best of memories, some amazing evenings of reminiscing with family and friends, and that it brings a smile to your face!
